The Top 10 Things to do in Rovinj Croatia You Cannot Miss!

There are so many things to do in Rovinj Croatia that you are going to fall in love with this charming old fishing village. Rovinj is located on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula. As you walk along the cobblestone-lined streets a sense of romance will overtake you. Just as many Croatian towns do.

Did you know that Rovinj has just been voted “one of the top emerging travel destinations on the planet” by a leading travel site? So you know there must be something super special about this beautiful village with colorful houses that line the street. It is the second most visited town in Croatia after Dubrovnik.

You will feel like you are relaxing in Venice while still enjoying life in the Baltics. Many people come here to check out the beaches in Rovinj, the amazing seafood, decadent truffles, exceptional olive oils, and award-winning wines. Plus! There are so many beautiful places to say right by the sea

Lone Bay Beach in Rovinj

The first stop of your things to do in Rovinj should be Lone Bay Beach. It is very easy to get to and just a short 15-minute walk from the center of town. You will have to walk or bike down though because you cannot reach it by car.

Lone Bay Beach is gravel and pebbly and there are plenty of spots for swimmers. It is very family-friendly and they have everything you could need including beach chairs, paddle board rentals, canoes, or even a surfboard.

You can swim all day here or grab a relaxing spot under a tree for shade. Bring your own snacks, or order from the local beach bar and coffee shop. It is completely up to you! Plus is it at the entrance of Golden Point Park so you could always explore that before or after you set up shop for the day.

St. Euphemia is a must visit

Visiting St. Euphemia is one of the best things to do in Rovinj. The spot where St. Euphemia sits has been a church since the 10th century. It has been rebuilt a few times to grow with the city. You will find it located in the heart of Old Town, and it is so beautiful. It is also the highest point in town and takes a little stroll to reach.

St. Euphemia has a special legend among the locals of the town, and a special place in their hearts. When you go and check out the beautiful church you will see her magnificent shrine and learn all about the miracle that occurred with her. You cannot miss this beautiful church and it is definitely worth a visit and one of the best things to do in Rovinj.

Old Town

When you think of old towns in Croatia, Rovinj’s old town will come to mind. Here you will walk around the medieval streets passing by cafes, restaurants, and then eventually the water’s edge.

One of the best things to do in Rovinj is to go and check out the local market. You can stock up on fruits and veggies or just take a look around. There is always time for coffee or a glass of wine in Croatia depending on the time of day.

Visit the Old Bunker

The “Old Bunker” is one of the coolest things to do in Rovinj Croatia. It sits on top of rocks that overlook the Meditterain and it is a beautiful site to see. You will forget what it was built for as you gaze along the coastline. It was first built back in the WWII days by the Germans as a safety measure to overlook the city.

Today it is a bit overgrown and is a wonderful place to go and relax and maybe bring a picnic with you and be grateful that the Germans did not win the war.

Watch the Sunset

If you have been to Croatia one time or many times, you know that sunsets are always magical. And here in Rovinj, it is no different. Be sure to take at least one day out of your travels to just relax and watch the sunset.

There are plenty of beach bars, coffee shops, and even restaurants with a view where you can see the sun gradually sink down past the horizon and show off the beauty that mother nature has to offer.

Check out La Puntunlia, it is a wonderful place to watch the sunset and take in the views.

Adriatic Titanic

One of the best things to do in Rovinj Croatia if you are into diving, or boat trips, is to go and see the Titanic of the Adriatic. Known as the Baron Gautsh. It sits a little more than 12 nautical miles from Rovinj and you can easily get there on a tour.

The Baron has been sitting on the ocean floor since 1914, just two years after the real Titanic. If the visibility is good you will be able to see so much of the wreckage. You do need to have a bit of diving experience as it is 40 meters below.

Lim Fjord

Take a boat through the luscious and narrow channel to arrive at the Lim Fjord Channel. Lim Fjord is a special place and is a protected natural area with different species of fish and oysters. You will be stunned by the beauty of the area and will never want to leave.

This area, like most places in Croatia, has a rich history so be prepared to listen and learn about the fascinating history. Once you are there take time to explore the Romulad’s cave, if you take an excursion over they will give you time to explore before stopping for lunch.

You should be able to check this off your list of the best things to do in Rovinj on this tour here and the memories will last you a lifetime.

Dvigrad Castle

If you are a sucker for castles like me, then you owe it to yourself to go and check out the Dvigrad Castle. It is just a short 25-minute drive from Rovinj and it is best to reach it by car, although some people more adventurous than me, take bike tours there.

Once you arrive you will be amazed at how well-preserved these castle ruins are. The town of Dvigrad is known as the lost town because it was simply left abandoned after a few hardships in the town back in the 17th century.  You will definitely want to check this out during your stay because it is one of the cool things to do in Rovinj Croatia.

Punta Corrente Park

One of the top things to do in Rovinj Croatia is to Punta Corrente Park. Here you will find an old quarry that has been transformed into a nature park. You can enjoy the beaches of Punta Corrente here or spend your day just strolling through the park.

There is also free climbing, places to cycle, and plenty of places to set up a picnic with your family. You could spend a whole day or just a few hours here visiting Punta Corrente Park and it is one of the top things to do in Rovinj Croatia.

The Port

Last but not least, The Port should be on your list of fun things to do in Rovinj. Down at the port, you will get the best views of the town, the colorful houses, and of St. Euphemia. This is where you will want to take all of your insta worthy photos and spend some time walking around.

There are plenty of restaurants, cafes, and bars down at the Port for you to enjoy. Plus, it is still a working port so you can watch the fishermen and women coming in with their catches of the day or even snag yourself some fresh seafood.
