You will want to take a day trip to Koh Larn Thailand at least once while touring Thailand. This tropical island is also known as Coral Island in Pattaya and is easily in the top 5 islands in Thailand.
I was lucky enough to be able to explore this coral island near Pattaya for a few months while moving around in Thailand last year. And let me tell you Koh Larn does not disappoint. Like most places, this Thai island is chill, easy to get to, more than reasonably priced, and has absolutely breathtaking beaches.
On this Day Trip to Koh Larn Thailand guide, I will show you how to get to one of the best islands off Pattaya, how to get around, and some deeds about the beaches. Pack your day bag, grab some sunscreen, and let’s do it!

How to Get to the Coral Island from Pattaya?
The best way to get there is the Pattaya to coral island ferry. The Thailand Ferry company runs every hour for slower ferries. The ride lasts 40 minutes to reach Koh Larn and it only costs 30 baht per person.
Have cash and be on time, and it is really that simple. The first ferry runs at 7 and they stop coming back from Koh Larn at 5 pm. Do not pay more than 30 baht, and do not pay anyone before you get on the boat from Pattaya to coral island ferry.
There are two rows of seats on the ferry and get jammed packed. If you need a seat try to arrive maybe 15-20 minutes before take off. We arrived 5 minutes before the boat left and we had to sit on the ground of the coral island ferry.
Koh Larn Ferry Boat Schedules
The main Village is called Naban Port. The other drop spot is the Tawaen Beach Pier. This is where the largest and most popular beach on Koh Larn is. (I like the Tawean Ferry Route).

You can also take a speed boat from this pier. It costs 150 baht per person and it takes about 20 minutes to reach the island. You will see different ramps for the different types of ferries. Unless you are a serious baller and do not want to wait, just take the 30-baht ride.
You can also rent a private speed boat with a captain to take you on a Koh Larn Pattaya island tour package.
How Do We Get to Koh Larn Ferry?
The best way to get to the ferry from Pattaya to Koh Larn is by driving. There are two ferries available to take, and the Koh larn ferry schedule is very simple to understand, as they run every hour on the hour. (as shown above).
To get to the Pattaya ferry to Koh larn head to the Ferry Boat Pattaya Pier. It is near the Bali Hai pier, but if you head to this specific spot you will find the boat to Koh Larn.

You will follow the road around the entire loop until you reach the last pier. I had a scooter and was able to park across the street from the ferry.
There is also a paid parking lot if you prefer parking in a covered garage. Or the Wat Chaimongkron Royal Monastry across the street does all-day parking for 40 Baht.
If you do not want to mess with parking take a grab/bolt ride. Or the baht bus will run to the ferry. But there is nothing better than getting off the ferry after a long day and having your own transportation there.
Places to Visit in Pattaya Coral Island
What to do in Koh Larn Island
A day trip to Koh Larn Thailand is the perfect amount of time to explore this 2-kilometer tiny island. We went on a self-guided beach tour here. The Koh Larn Pattaya ferry will drop you off at one of two piers, depending on the time of day you reach it.
From the Tawaen Beach ferry, you will get off the boat and walk straight to one of the best beaches in Pattaya. While following the wooden walkway down you can turn left to the most popular Tawaen Beach, or take the path right for a more private beach area on Sang Wan Beach.
Renting A Motor Bike
When renting a bike, do not go with the first vendor you see. Unless you are ready to negotiate. For a day trip to Koh Lanta your bike rental should be 200-300 baht.
They asked for one international driver’s license and not much else. Be sure to check that your new bike has fuel before taking off. We had a very nice Thai woman help us, and it was straightforward and had no hidden fees at the end of the day.

Koh Larn Beach Days
The beaches are always free to enter and unfortunately, there is not much natural shade, and it gets crowded fast. The sun is hot hot hot, be prepared, you do not want to be a lobster out on Pattaya Coral Beach.
Tawaen Beach
Tawaen Beach is the most popular beach on Koh Larn. There are several hundred beach chairs in the shade, with restaurants and beach hotels on the opposite side. If you are looking for fun activities to book once you are on the island, like jet skis, kayaks, and such, this is the best beach for that.
We stopped at this beach last on our Day trip to Koh Larn Thailand. I brought my beach mat and sat in the shaded area near the stairs with a few drinks from 711. It was relaxing and private, and cost about a 1/3 of the price of setting in the rental chairs.
Head here to find Tawean Beach – Unnamed Rd, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri.

Samae Beach
Here is another long stretch of a pretty beach with chairs and restaurants lining the beach. This was one of the prettiest stops of the whole day. We planned on spending just a few minutes here and ended up staying for hours.
There are beautiful rock formations and the water is clear and inviting. You will see lots of tourists and locals swimming and taking photos in front of the beautiful beach here.

The chairs cost us 100 baht per person and the chairs came with two small glasses of water. We walked down to the green chairs, but I am sure that they all have the same price and views. The people next to us got fried chicken wings and beers that looked delicious too.

Ta Yai Beach
Being at Ta Yai Beach is like spending your day in a postcard backdrop. When you arrive you can park in the big parking lot and follow the flower-lined stairs down the main beach. Or you can walk to the left and find a more private, local spot. The back beach does not have a restaurant, but it is much more private.
When we were here we sat in the sun for a while before moving it back into the shade. The water here is shallow and so beautiful. If you walk along the footpaths you will find a “secret cove” with a shell garden full of homemade wind chimes. It was super cool to find, if you walk down the stairs it is all the way to the right.
Address to Ta Yai Beach – Ko Lan, Thailand Amphoe Bang Lamung, Chang Wat Chon Buri

Sang Wan Beach
This is the beach that is right next to Tawaen Beach. It is quiet and is also known as Grandparents Beach. It is a wonderful place for snorkeling and swimming in the shallow waters. And although the sand is soft and white, the shore is very small. You can make a quick pit stop here before getting back on your ferry if you are doing the Tawaen Beach route.

You will want to make sure to eat and keep drinking water because the Koh Larn sun will get you. Here are a few of my favorite things for a 1-day trip in Thailand.
FAVORITE BEACH ACCESSORIES AND TOWELS FOR TRAVEL
- Super Cute Beach Hat – It can be rolled up and stuffed into your day bag.
- Over-Sized White Cover-Up – The perfect way to cover up while in the hot Thai sun.
- Purple Water Bottle to Keep Your Drinks Ice Cold.
- Microfiber Travel Towel– A MUST when traveling around beach islands.
- Hammock– Easy way to relax and packs up small.
Food on Coral Island Thailand
For lunch, we stopped at the cutest cafe on the water. Koh Larn is so small that no matter where you are on the island you are only 15 minutes at most away.
The name of the restaurant was Meaharak Cafe and I got the seafood salad. Very fresh, fast, and delicious. It cost us about 400 baht for lunch, but it was worth it.

If you wanted to head to a more local spot, with an equally stunning view, then Nong Riaw Restaurant would be perfect for you. It is right on the water, and has amazing views and reviews!
There are several ways to eat for cheaper and maybe spend 20 dollars total on your day trip to Koh Larn Thailand.
420 on Koh Larn Island Pattaya
There were several spots for weed in Koh Larn. The best price I found was near Ta Yai Beach beach. RIGHT before you pull into the parking lot. I always like getting a pre-rolled joint when out and about. Yes, they are a little more expensive than just buying the flower, but it is so darn convenient.
They had a sign outside on the window that said, joints for 35 Baht, so yes for about a dollar. We ended up getting one up the street at near where we ate, for a lot more. It was okay, but not worth the price. Or you can come prepared and bring your own along on your day trip to Koh Larn Thailand!

Drinks on Pattaya Koh larn Island
If you want to relax with a drink or two you can rent a beach chair on any of the beaches. They should cost at the most 100 baht, and absolutely no more. If you had a luxurious day trip to Koh larn Thailand in mind then head to this beach club!
You can also bring anything with you or grab a few drinks from 711. I only saw one on the whole island and it is when you first get by Tawaen Beach. So stock up if you are looking for ways to save on your day trip to Koh Larn.
Almost every beach has restaurants close enough to grab a drink from if you didn’t want to get a chair. Just make sure you bring a towel or beach mat with you.

Stay Over Night in Koh Larn
Coral Island Pattaya’s price for a hotel is reasonable, and you get a lot for your money. There are super cute A-frame guest houses, to luxurious hotels with pools overlooking the ocean. These are the best options if you are looking for Koh Larn nightlife. There are plenty of Hotels on the beach in Koh Larn for you to pick from!
- The Castello Resort – Travel Sustainable Property on Ta Waen Beach Near the Na Baan Pier
- Rocco Villa Luxurious Stay!
- Suntosa Resort is my pick! It is gorgeous, right by the pier, and has the best views.
